Please be sure to join Randy Seaver each Saturday night for Saturday Night Genealogy Fun!

Here is your assignment if you choose to play along (cue the Mission Impossible music, please!):

1)  What is your father’s Zigzag Ancestor line (NOTE: I just made that up…}?  In other words, your father’s mother’s father’s mother’s etc. line back as far as you can go.

2)  Tell us in your own blog post (and drop a link here in a comment), or on Facebook with your response.

Zigzagging up Daddy’s tree:

  • My daddy was Jimmy Ray Gunter (1941-2012). He was born in Anderson, South Carolina four days before Pearl Harbor was bombed.
  • His mama was Evelyn Floree Fowler (1921-2010). She was born in either Anderson or Greenville, South Carolina. I have conflicting information.
  • Her daddy was William Perry Fowler (1892-1936). He was born in Greenville County, South Carolina.
  • His mama was Maggie Wooten (1870-1948). She was born in South Carolina.
  • Her daddy was William Moctor Wooten (1847-1914). He was born in Greenville County, South Carolina.

Zigzagging up Mama’s tree:

  • My mama is Madeline Spence.  She is still living. She was born in Abbeville County, South Carolina.
  • Her daddy was William Howard Taft Spence (1910-1992). He was born in Anderson, South Carolina.
  • His mama was Lula Elizabeth Carter (1880-1966). She was born in Georgia and was one of only two great-grandparents living when I was born.
  • Her daddy was Joel Francis Carter (1858-1928). He was born in Hart County, Georgia.
  • His mama was Lavinia Louise York (1796-1891). She was born in Hart County, Georgia.
  • Her daddy was William York and I have no further information on him.

    1. Thanks, Ellen. I have a lot of generations back, but I don’t have documentation for all of them. Most of the folks beyond our great-grandparents are tentative relationships. I haven’t been able to positively prove them yet, but I am working on it. It is a fun adventure. 🙂
      Have a blessed night.
